What is a facial toner and what exactly do they do?

Hey my little Brushaflies and welcome back to my blog, Brushafly Mua 🦋 Today’s blog post is about facial toners and what it is exactly they do for us and our faces!

To put it simply, toners are designed to remove any last traces of your makeup, pollution and other particles of dirt and grime that your cleanser or cleansing routine hadn’t managed to get rid of. Toners then also help to re-balance the skins PH. Along with cleansing, toners actually help to get the skin ready for the rest of your skincare routine, and pave the way for better makeup application and better looking skin. Prep is key, makeup will glide onto skin better, last longer and look fresher on skin that has been treated well and cleaned (Cleansed and toned) well.

Toners past reputation has given them the vibe of being drying and astringent, but we need to modernise our way of thinking about toners. Toners now come fully packed with skin loving, active ingredients. Some you can layer onto your skincare routine, others you don’t need to rinse and you can find some that suit all skincare needs and types.

Toners are not considered an essential part of your skincare routine, you can give it a miss if needed, but if you do want to give your skin the best chance of being PH balanced and making sure all that old makeup is gone, then adding one to your routine won’t go amis.

Here are my favourite toners:

I hope my blog post about Toners has helped you understand them a little more. If you did enjoy my blog post, why not follow my blog and keep up to date with all things makeup and beauty. Take care my Brushaflies and speak soon xoxo
