Hey my little Brushaflies and welcome back to my blog, Brushafly Mua 🦋 Today’s blog post is about those pesky things that appear on your skin when you don’t want them too… Usually at the end of your nose 😭 Blackheads…
What is a blackhead? – A blackhead is a blocked pore that is filled with dead skin cells and oils. It looks black because the oils in them become oxidised.
How are they different to whiteheads? – The differences are that whiteheads are blocked pores which become fully blocked over and produce pus. A blackhead stays open and not blocked over and therefore oxidises.
How to banish them?
- Exfoliate – Exfoliating is great for getting rid of those pesky dead skin cells which are part of the problem as they clog up the pores with the oils.
- Face scrubs and acids are your fight against them – You can get gorgeous face scrubs with small particles in to exfoliate away the dead skin cells. Be careful to choose ones with particles in, that are not too sharp as you can cause micro tears. Acids are great especially if your not a fan of face scrubs. AHA’S such as lactic acids and glycolic acids are best as they have real blackhead banishing power. To help unblock those pores BHA’s are good as they dissolve a lot of rubbish that sits on the top layer of skin, Salicylic acid is the one to look out for.
- Use a clay mask – These are great for absorbing oils, so if excess oils is something that is causing part of the problem, then use a clay mask 2 – 3 times a week. Be sure to exfoliate too to make sure you get rid of dead skin cells and oils.
I hope my blog post has helped you understand blackheads and how to defeat them. Just remember to NEVER pick at them. You will just end up irritating the skin and potentially cause bigger spots. Picking at them can cause more bacteria to enter and thus maybe cause inflammation or infection. And that, you don’t want!
I hope you enjoyed my blog post, if you did why not follow my blog and keep up to date with all things makeup and beauty. Take care my Brushaflies and speak soon xoxo
