Hey my little Brushaflies and welcome back to my blog, Brushafly Mua 🦋 today’s blog post is me reviewing the Brush works miracle silicone sponge and brush cleaner tool.
So I do admit I’m a little late to this whole silicone sponge party, I know they have been around for a few years now, but they have never really tickled my fancy. But at a pharmacy the other day I was waiting for a prescription and I saw this in their bargain bin… So… I guess this time round there was a reason it was in their bargain bin, although sometimes I do fall in love with some of my bargain finds, this unfortunately was not one of them.
You can probably tell I wasn’t impressed by these products already by the way I’m talking and the er… Meme lol. But let me tell you why!
The sponge for me just didn’t work how I expect a makeup sponge to. Obviously the normal makeup sponge absorbs some of the product that you are applying so it doesn’t look so heavy and gives an even look to your makeup. The silicone sponge obviously doesn’t absorb anything, it just sort of slides it all around your face and leaves it were it lands. It can’t blend out like a normal sponge, it just moves it around a little. Whenever I tried this sponge I found parts of my foundation and concealer were just sitting caked in certain areas. The sponge also split and broke quite quickly too, the top layer just sort of peeled off. I also did not enjoy the feeling of it on my face, it was like slapping a wet fish with foundation on it over your skin… Yuck!
The brush cleaner tool I also wasn’t a fan of. I used some liquid brush cleaner one time and baby shampoo another time (on two separate occasions) to see if it changed the results at all but no… The result was a clean brush (which yeah is good) but it smelt so chemical and I really didn’t like the smell. And changing up my cleaning products didn’t change the smell, it was the same either way.
So both products this time were a no for me, they didn’t appeal to me when they first appeared on the market and I should have kept it that way…
Would I recommend this product?
No, these types of products are gimmicks, they arrive on the scene, either get a small following or no following at all and then vanish into the world of old gimmicks that also never made it.
So there you have it, my review on the Brush Works miracle silicone sponge and brush cleaner tool. I hope you enjoyed my blog post and if you did why not comment below. Have you used these products and did you like them?
So take care my Brushaflies and speak soon xoxo
