Luxury Vs Drugstore makeup FAQ’s…

Hey my little Brushaflies and welcome back to another blog post all about, you guessed it… Makeup! As an Mua (before covid obviously), a makeup blogger and makeup YouTuber (especially on my old channel Mnpmakeupblog before I deleted it in a fit of craziness, but all is explained about that on the about me section of my blog) I quite often get asked about obviously makeup, and for my tips on how to use it, wear it and also about buying luxurious makeup as well as drugstore makeup brands. So I decided to make a small blog post about a few of the most frequently asked questions in the hopes it might help others.

How should I mix up my makeup bag with both designer named makeup and drugstore makeup?

Buying every designer and luxury is not all that necessary and yet neither is buying everything all drugstore. Unless you won the lottery or you are lucky enough to have a lot of disposable income, buying everything high-end designer is not going to be cost effective and could leave you a little bit bankrupt. It can be said that the more high-end brands use better quality ingredients and that is why their products are so expensive, but nowadays drugstore brands have really upped their game and are cheaper meaning you can buy more. Although sometimes quality over quantity is the saying, I feel its more… ‘Buy what suits you, your skin and your needs’.

You should definitely have a mixture of luxury and drugstore if that’s what you can afford. My personal feeling is buy the more expensive things that will last you longer like blushes, Bronzers, powders, eye shadows etc. Because they take longer to use and longer to go out of date thus you shouldn’t need to keep restocking them very often. That doesn’t mean you need to buy all those things high-end though, just a select few will do. One of my friends loves drugstore eye shadows, but adores high-end foundations. Best thing like I said before is ‘buy what suits you, your skin and your needs’.

Which are the best luxury, high-end makeup brands to buy from?

Now this question could be seen as a little biased from me, because of course I will only name brands I have actually purchased from. So, if you are thinking of purchasing from a brand that’s high-end that isn’t listed here, then don’t think they’re bad, it could just be I haven’t tried them myself yet. But here is a list of the ones I like, buy and use:

  • Charlotte Tilbury
  • YSL
  • Dior
  • By Terry
  • Becca cosmetics
  • KKW
  • Kylie cosmetics
  • Elizabeth Arden
  • Estee Lauder
  • Clarins
  • Givenchy
  • Huda Beauty
  • Tati Beauty
  • Jeffree Star cosmetics
  • Nars
  • Smashbox
  • MAC cosmetics
  • Shiseido
  • Fenty

Which are the best drugstore brands to buy from?

Again this could be seen as biased, but once again I will only mention brands that I love buying and using. A lot of Drugstore brands now are really upping their game to make their products just as good as the designer high-end brands. So don’t be put off if they don’t have a designer label to them, because they could become a new firm favourite in your collection:

  • No 7 (for some can be seen as either high-end and or drugstore. I class them as drugstore for makeup and high-end for skincare)
  • Colourpop
  • Revolution Beauty
  • Morphe
  • Maybelline
  • Rimmel
  • E.l.f
  • I heart Revolution
  • Makeup obsession
  • Burts bees
  • Forgive me Suzie
  • Lacura from Aldi
  • Primark
  • Profusion
  • W7
  • Wet n wild

What’s your favourite luxury makeup item you have ever purchased?

Hmmm this is a hard one because there is a few I love and have used to death, literally. But I guess my favourite luxury makeup item is – my Tati Beauty Textured Neautrals vol 1 eyeshadow palette. The eye shadows in this palette are some of the best I have ever used! The mattes, the shimmers and the glitters are amazing and the quality is spot on. Well worth the rather extortionate expensive purchase (shipping was a little ouch!)

What’s your favourite drugstore item, that you have ever purchased?

My favourite ever drugstore makeup purchase was the Primark dupe for the M.A.C Velvet Teddy lipstick. The Primark one was called ‘You do you, babe’, and was gorgeous, a perfect dupe.

So there you have it, a few luxury vs drugstore FAQ’s, just for you guys lol. If you have any other questions you would like to ask about either luxury makeup or drugstore, then please feel free to comment below or email them to me. My email can be found on my contact page.

Hope you enjoyed my blog post. If you did please give me a follow 💋 take care my little Brushaflies and speak soon xoxo
